The search for Waldo has become a worldwide phenomenon that started in Britain under a slightly different name. The original books featured the search for a character named Wally, renamed Waldo in the US and Canada. The illustrations feature the famous character hidden somewhere in the image and readers are challenged to locate him by seeking his red and white outfit. As the series progressed, new characters were added including a female friend named Wilma, later replaced by a twin sister named Wenda.
Waldo costumes feature the famous red striped shirt and hat as well as round glasses worn by the character. Waldo costumes available for both adults and kids need simply be paired with blue jeans to replicate the look of the cartoon character. Wenda costumes are available as well for a female version of the popular Waldo costumes, again with a red and white striped shirt and hat, and Wenda’s glasses.
